When I started teaching yoga years ago I had a feeling of being at home and also when I was practising it I felt like everything made sense.
I couldn't figure out intellectually why that was, although my body felt good, I felt calmer, more content afterwards and had a deep feeling of oneness and connection, I felt in a state of being with no place for problems, worries, thoughts, simply being in alignment with the here and now.
I've always enjoyed keeping my self, my body and mind healthy and fit doing something fun while exercising at the same time like aerial circus, dancing, yoga, walking, cycling. I had a time in my life when I did work out at the gym to build my muscle and that was an experience, although in a long run I admitted I needed something that involved my whole being and made me feel like I'm truly living, something HOLISTIC (that embraces the whole, entire). I'll explain you what I mean! We live in the cycle of the day and night. There is a rhythm behind everything. Contraction/expansion, breathing in/breathing out, waking/resting, open/close. As we wake up in the morning, we gain awareness, we live throughout the day opening, connecting to the outer world, growing, resting, breathing, pondering, smiling, coming back to ourselves, sleeping. We literally live through a transformation and so does the practice of yoga.
Breathing is life, breathing is everything and that is an essential core part of yoga. Expanding, growing through the use of breath and the breathing itself allow to open, expand on the inhale, to release, soften, let go on the exhale. So yoga can help you breathe, yoga can help you live basically, to connect to your inner truth/voice. The breathing makes you grounded, it brings you back to the present moment. Doing the simplest thing in the world, breathing, you can fully experience life. Yoga is available to everyone at any st/age of your life, wherever you are, wherever you are coming from, it is for you now!
Yoga is ageless therefor can be practiced with proper adjustments throughout life, including Pregnancy and Postpartum. It is such a vast world. You might think "Oh I need to be flexible, strong, healthy, spiritual, mindful, in alignment, having all that in me already!", certainly NOT! although I promise you will definitely embody "all that" because inside you whether consciously or unconsciously lies a desire to fulfil your being with something good. Therefore indeed you will achieve some or all those elements if you have persistence dedicating to it fully. Yoga is here to serve you, so use it, take it in your hands and make it your own. The results will be unbelievable to believe! So no excuse not to practice it! As mostly in life, the unknown and fear of failure can keep us away from trying. This is a chance to dive into it to find out it is simply part of us, of our existence.
Yoga means to join, to unite.
Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, creating harmony between the mind and body, the being and Nature, the creation and Creator/God.
The elements of yoga, breathing, meditation, relaxation, stretching are available to you every single day for as long as you make space and time for and surrender to it. Once you decide, yoga can be part of your life in your daily routine, means being aware of your breathing, posture, thoughts, feeling and fully take responsibility in your actions, and in what you are, do, have, say!
And like a muscle the more you practice the more good use you can do of it.
Think it as a wave in the sea, once it starts off it will flow with the momentum!
